The Psychology Of Easter (Let the Healing Begin) There is an epidemic of Americans turning up ghosts from their pasts. If we are troubled, psychologists tell us to delve into our pasts to discover what horrible thing someone did to us years ago. We are taught that the only way we can be free, or saved from ourselves, is to find someone else to blame for our bad feelings. But that is not what the Bible teaches. "... for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." The only way we can be free, or saved from ourselves, is to realize that we are all sinners and that it was Christ's death and resurrection that gives us victory over sin. (Romans 3:19-26) We have to ask Jesus to forgive our sins. Then we can forgive those who have wronged us. In other words, Christ forgives us and gives us spiritual healing. We need Christ's example and help from the Holy Spirit to truly forgive others, and to receive emotional healing. I don't like the term "Easter". I prefer Resurrection Sunday. Christ died a horrible, gruesome, bloody death. Then He was resurrected from the dead. But that is too graphic. That does not paint a very pretty picture for our witnessing program. So we use psychology. America has cleaned up the Easter image by taking the blood out of it. We let a cuddly, fluffy little Easter bunny do our witnessing for us. The church is more appealing to the masses with a bunny for its mascot, instead of Christ as its Saviour. I think it is time that we put the blood back in Easter. For it is by the blood of the sacrificial lamb, Jesus, that we find forgiveness for our sins. And it is by the blood of the sacrificial lamb that we can be free, or saved from ourselves, and can find spiritual healing. Are you still searching the past for answers? Are you still looking for some horrible thing that someone did to you years ago? Jesus died on the cross years ago. That was pretty horrible. But that act was not done TO you. It was done FOR you. Is that not enough of an answer for you? So America, quit looking for some horrible thing that someone did TO you and thank God for the horrible thing someone allowed to happen FOR you.
