Spiritual Revival

Two people from another church are praying for a spiritual revival in the churches in our area. These two people have prayed every day for the past three years that church members will experience spiritual growth and that people outside the churches will be led to the Lord. They have even set aside whole days to pray for this. They feel that the time of revival is very soon; it will happen very quickly, and everyone in the area will be aware that it is happening.

I, too, have been praying for spiritual revival (but more specifically at our church) for the past one and one-half years. I do believe that a time is coming when people will experience a great spiritual awakening and many will be led to the Lord. But I can't predict the future and I don't know when or how this will happen.

What I do know is this: spiritual growth is rooted in Bible study and in prayer. When the church grows, will you be a participant in, and a contributor toward, that growth? Or will you be standing on the outside looking in and wondering what you could have done to prepare for it?

Attend Sunday School and church. Go to Vacation Bible School. Go to Wednesday Night Bible Study. Read. Pray. Act. If there is an area in which you would like to grow, don't wait for someone to tell you what to do. Ask our minister, an elder, or some other leader for direction.

Prepare for action. Take action. And then see the fruits of your labors. You will be blessed and you will be a blessing to those around you.
