Holy Trinity

The concept of God being three persons is a hard concept to grasp. It seems easy enough to say there is God (the Father), Jesus (the Son), and the Holy Spirit. But it takes a lot more than just saying the concept out loud to understand and to accept the role of each. Indeed, a complete explanation of this concept is beyond our comprehension.

When a person grows up outside of Christ, he can sometimes point to a time in his life when did learn about God. Since my parents took me to church at a young age, I cannot remember a time before I knew God. But I did know God for a long time before I realized it was also possible to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I guess I didn't really know God as well as I thought I did.

It was a few more years after that before I realized that the Holy Spirit was more than just something to add more pages to the Bible. The Holy Spirit lives within us to guide us, to comfort us, and to strengthen us. The Spirit strengthens our relationship with Jesus because it testifies to us what Jesus would have us to do. Jesus strengthens our relationship with God because Jesus is the pathway and the doorway to the Father.

These may sound like basic concepts of Christianity. But many churches do not emphasize the importance of Bible study. And even fewer churches emphasize the importance of prayer. Prayer releases the power of the Holy Spirit. Without it, the rest is just rhetoric.

If you desire a closer relationship with God, come to Sunday School to learn more about Him. I have learned that there are many things I do not understand. My failure in the past to try to understand the Bible did affect my spiritual life and health. I was often too lazy or ignorant to do what was right. But I don't want to take any more chances with my spiritual health. Do you?
